Lilac and Juniper Farm, a working farm nestled in the quiet countryside of Central Virginia.
We’re Linnea Young and Joel Imholte, and after years in the suburbs of Northern Virginia, we felt the pull toward open land, fresh air, and a more grounded way of life. We made the move to the quieter rhythms of Central Virginia to build a farm rooted in land conservation, sustainability, and connection—to the land, to our animals, and to the people who come to experience it.
At Lilac and Juniper Farm, our agricultural practices are shaped by that promise. We raise animals on a scale that supports the land rather than stresses it, prioritizing long-term soil health, water protection, and biodiversity. Our farm specializes in raising registered Nigerian Dwarf goats and Dexter cattle, breeds we chose for their hardiness, efficiency, and suitability for sustainable, small-scale agriculture. We are intentional about breeding, animal care, and land management, with a focus on maintaining healthy genetics and calm, well-handled livestock.
We practice regenerative farming and rotational grazing, working with natural systems rather than against them. By prioritizing soil health, biodiversity, and pasture recovery, we aim to leave the land better than we found it and create an environment where animals and ecosystems can thrive together.
Joel and I love the peace and purpose found in rural living, and it brings us joy to open our farm to others. At Lilac and Juniper Farm, we invite you to experience the beauty of the land, the care behind the work, and the simple comfort of being somewhere real.
